It's July, and you know what that means.  Time for the trees in Casper to start preparing themselves for winter.  This tree in downtown Casper was spotted sporting the first tree sweater of the season.

We received reports of a tree that was "yarn bombed" in downtown Casper.  For those unfamiliar, "yarn bombing" is a type of graffiti or street art that employs colorful displays of knitted or crocheted yarn or fiber rather than paint or chalk.  I didn't know what to expect, as I was unaware of the art of yarn bombing.  I expected to see a tree covered with loose yarn, much like tee-peeing a persons tree with toilet paper.  Upon arrival I discovered that this was not the case.  Instead, I found a tree that had been creatively wrapped in lovely patterns of various knits of yarn, like a quilt or afghan.  As I walked around the planter where the tree was located, I notice the entire area was covered in knits of yarn and fabrics.  The "yarn garden" is located directly in front of Dancing Sheep Yarn & Fiber.  The store has taken it upon themselves to dress up the planter with their own inventive twist.  I found it pretty cool.  The tree was wrapped up in bright vibrant colors, along with the bird bath, a few choice rocks, and even the parking pole in front.  I have never knitted, crocheted, or any thing of that sort.  But the display in front of the Dancing Sheep's store has enlightened me to new uses for the craft of yarn.  If you are driving downtown, make sure to keep an eye open for this clever patch of color.
