A pilot hired to help a groom propose to his fiancé in Rhode Island on Tuesday had to crash land in Block Island Sound.Mark Simmons was towing a banner that asked  "Michelle will you marry me?" The banner had flown less than 30 minutes when the plane experienced engine trouble. Several Mayday calls were placed to the Coast Guard before the plane splashed down. Simmons was able to escape the sinking aircraft and kept afloat by clinging to the submerged tires.

A boater noticed Simmons waving a pair of orange shorts and picked up the pilot (uninjured) from the water about one hundred foot deep.

No word on an answer to the proposal.
