Wyoming Department of Transportation crews will be removing dead trees along state-maintained roads south of Casper this week, according to a news release.

The days and times have not been set to remove and trim trees along Casper Mountain Road -- Wyoming Highway 251 -- and the state's portion of Garden Creek Road -- Wyoming Highway 252.

Crews will place traffic control measures including flaggers to direct traffic.

They will perform the work on both sides of each road, and work locations will change.

The trimming is necessary to keep branches from growing over the road. Removing dead trees prevents them from falling on the roads or causing rock slides when they fall. The falling and excess growth can cause driving hazards.

WYDOT expects the work to take two or three days to complete.
