Cheyenne United saying “In light of the tragic events in Orlando, Florida on Sunday morning, the Cheyenne LGBT community along with friends and allies will gather together in support on Thursday, June 16 for the Cheyenne United: #WeAreOrlando rally.

Wyomingpublicmedia writes “June is Pride Month, and celebrations had already been planned around the state. Jeran Artery, chairman of Wyoming Equality, said he knows people are scared, but that they should not give in to fear.”

This page also lists a website where you can contribute to victims and their families. I’ll bet it’s legit, but I always approach these sites with caution and healthy skepticism. Millions of people across the country are sending monetary donations to help the victims and their families, and I am as well. But as the Sandy Hook Massacre and Aurora Colorado theater shootings proved, ass hats are trying to scam money from you.

BBB Wise Giving Alliance provides a guideline you can follow so your money will end up in the right hands.

One GoFundMe site has raised over $2,000,000 million and is probably legit, but how would you know? There's a lot of money involved and the worst of us will try to take any that they can.

Do your homework with Charity Navigator. I’ve changed my donations before after using this site. You can also use Guidestar and Give.org through the Better Business Bureau.

Good deeds are cool, being a sucker is not. Do some homework.

We are all affected by this dark event, I pray for their souls and strength and peace to their families and friends.
