By The Numbers – Saving Your Life And Stuff
This valuable information no matter where you live, here in Casper as well. Cheyenne first responders need your help in helping you. In an announcement this week, the city requests that you make it easier to find you in an emergency involving Cheyenne Fire Rescue, the Cheyenne Police Department, and American Medical Response teams who depend on your house numbers to find you as quickly as possible.
“Finding your home, especially at night, can be challenging if address numbers are unreadable, hidden, unlighted or have missing numbers.”
Take steps to save yourself and others you care for.
Go to the street, and take a look to see if you can see your numbers easily, that includes size and contrasting colors. City code says; “Numbers shall not be less than four inches high with a minimum width of one-half inch.”
If your house is set back from the street, have legible numbers on a fence or post, and if on a corner lot, make sure the numbers face the street of your address.
Prune any bushes, tree limbs or other growth that has covered your house number and if the numbers are old and weathered, repair or replace them.
Your life could depend on these rules and the others that are posted at the City of Cheyenne website.
Of course, this goes for anywhere, so just take a minute and take a look. Stay safe.
