A precautionary lockout was instituted and later lifted Wednesday at Manor Heights Elementary School after local law enforcement reported a potential safety concern.

In a statement to news media, the Natrona County School District says officers immediately responded to the area and determined no safety concern existed in connection with the report.

The Casper Police Department says it was notified at about 10:50 a.m. of two individuals "possibly in possession of firearms" walking toward Manor Heights Elementary School. Police immediately notified school staff.

Upon contacting the individuals in question, police determined they were carrying pool cues -- not guns.

Normal school operations have resumed. The lockout was lifted sometime before 11:53 a.m. Wednesday.

"We appreciate the dedication of local law enforcement and our community in helping us to keep students and staff safe," the district statement concludes.
