In 1977 Lynyrd Skynyrd’s airplane ran out of fuel and crash-landed in Mississippi. That’s when Gary Rossington broke both of his arms, wrists, legs, ankles and shattered his pelvis. You can count Gary as lucky. Three others in the band died in the wreck that also took the lives of their tour manager and both pilots.

Fast forward to 1982, when Gary and his wife fell in love with Jackson, Wyoming and they built a house and raised two daughters there.

Today, Gary celebrates his  66th birthday, a minor miracle seeing that he is the only remaining original member of Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Happy birthday Gary, we’re glad you’re still with us, here in Wyoming.
