NWS: Up to 10 Inches of Snow Expected in Casper, More Elsewhere

The National Weather Service in Riverton has upgraded Casper to a winter storm warning, effective Wednesday, ahead of a strong cold front which is predicted to bring drastically colder temperatures and heavy snow to the area.

Four to 10 inches of snow could pile up in the lower elevations of Natrona County and Casper, with higher amounts on Casper's south side and in the Powder River area.

Casper Mountain could get 10-14 inches of snow with winds gusting up to 35 mph.

Travel could be very difficult, with patchy blowing snow significantly reducing visibility.

The winter storm warning will be in effect from 12 p.m. Wednesday to 12 p.m. Thursday.
