We rely on the web so much that once in a great while we mess up. Maybe we click on a link, "OK" a request or neglect to unclick a checkbox. That was not the case when this morning, I went to a VERY reputable local website and was attacked by a trojan virus.

I will not reveal this very well known site, because the point of this is to remind you to be careful where you go, of course, but more than that, have the best antivirus you can and keep it updated.

What I avoided:

HEUR:Trojan.Script.Iframer is a stubborn virus detected by Kaspersky AntiVirus with the aim to compromise your privacy and security. It includes backdoor capabilities that allow it to open network ports to download and install additional malware threats onto the infected computer.

It's not new, but it is still in the wild and could really mess up your computer and by extension, your life. If you have it, GO HERE.

BTW, I contacted the business immediately and informed them of the situation. They responded promptly and properly.

On a personal note, I have been using the Kaspersky suite of internet protection for the last 10 years and it has saved my butt many times. Do your homework and choose wisely. Oh, and yes, I am aware that they are based in Russia, and it is a concern, but not a deal breaker at this point. Besides, I have another 202 days left on my 3-year subscription for 10 machines.

Be safe.

Steve
