We have to look out for one another despite our differences. A pretty big issue is how much alone time our senior citizens have on a day to day basis. I believe that having a nice balance between 'me' time and socializing is the key to mental stability and happiness.

According to a study that took place from 2014-2017 by the Pew Research Center, people 60 years of age and above spend on average 7.5 hours a day alone. Now, for those folks who live alone, the study says that they spend up to 10.5 hours alone every single day.

I don't know about you, but that would get maddening after about a week. I propose that we donate a little bit of our free time to just going and hanging out with the older generation. For one thing, you'll probably learn something that you never would have known if you hadn't met them. Another thing is you'll make a new friend.

People are people no matter their age. We all want to socialize and connect with someone on a personal level and we can make that happen by spending an hour or two getting to know the older population in town.
