Need an Excuse to Exercise? Try Running From a Horde of Zombies
One of the hardest things for a guy to do is start an exercise regimen. What you need to get yourself off the couch and moving is some kind of motivation. We may have found the perfect tool: the undead.
The Laguna Province in the Philippines held a three mile run through the streets that took runners on a sweaty, scary dash towards the finish line and away from the hordes of the hungry undead. The race featured a crowd of runners, aka “survivors,” fighting for survival against a crowd of 200 zombies.
The race wasn’t just taking runners from point A to point B. They could actually kill (again) some of the undead during the course of the run. Each runner had three flags on them, and if a zombie managed to snag all three of them, they were considered “dead.” They could earn some life by completing certain tasks along the way.
All of this sounds a heck of a lot more fun than going to the gym. Although, we usually see a ton of zombies there as well. Most of the people on treadmills have that “undead” stare.
